[biography]

This Is Radio Silence started life in 2005 as the solo project of ex-Earth Loop Recall frontman Ben McLees. In June 2006 an ultra-limited CD-R EP was distributed, featuring 6 tracks which included early versions of 'We Fall Apart' and 'Unbeautiful' (which would be re-recorded and re-released in 2010 on the 'Now There's Nothing EP). TIRS was put on hold for 12 months when a new line-up of Earth Loop Recall appeared in 2007, though TIRS tracks 'We Fall Apart' and 'Elevator Music' were both performed live at ELR shows around this time. Following the break-up of ELR mkII in February 2008, TIRS restarted in earnest with around a dozen tracks being written and recorded (albeit in demo form only) by May of that year. In August 2008, the first 'official' TIRS release was made available through Line Out Records, the download-only single 'The Heart Grows Fonder' (b/w 'TMNTY'). There were no further TIRS releases during the rest of 2008 or 2009, due to Ben's commitments as live guitarist for both SonVer and High Above The Storm. In January 2010, TIRS returned with the strongest material to date: the 8-track EP 'Now There's Nothing'. Described by Line Out Records as "a deep, dark and heartwrenchingly honest EP", 'Now There's Nothing' included tracks performed at the final ELR mkII show ('000000', 'Adoration' and 'Unbeautiful') and a vocal contribution by Scott Lamb of Deathboy on 'The Truth Is In Your Trigger Finger'. At time of writing, Ben is working on the next batch of TIRS releases, including a full length album and an EP of ambient instrumental music. This releases will co-incide with the debut TIRS live shows, planned for Summer 2010.
